Tim Donaldson is a Fire and Explosion Investigator at OCI Group with a strong background in mechanical systems, fire protection infrastructure, and investigative procedures. As a Red Seal Automotive Service Technician with over 15 years of technical experience, Tim brings a practical and detail-oriented approach to fire and explosion investigations involving commercial, industrial, and residential properties.
His experience includes the management of preventative maintenance programs, facility improvement projects, and the installation and testing of complex fire protection systems, including dry, wet, and pre-action sprinkler systems within large-scale facilities. Tim has also been directly involved in fire pump installation and successful flow testing, providing him with extensive knowledge of building systems and fire suppression operations.
In addition to his technical expertise, Tim previously served as an auxiliary member of the Stirling-Rawdon Police Service, where he participated in criminal and non-criminal investigations. Through this work, he gained valuable experience in evidence preservation, witness interviews, investigative procedures, and courtroom testimony — skills that support his forensic investigation work at OCI Group.

OCI Group structural engineer Helena Wollman specializes in forensic structural investigations for residential, commercial, and industrial properties, including the analysis, assessment, and design of rebuild efforts following structural losses and failures. Her experience includes investigations involving wood, steel, concrete, and masonry structures, as well as the evaluation of structural damage and construction-related deficiencies.
Helena’s background includes structural design and analysis for new construction projects, renovations, and fit-outs across Western Canada. She has extensive knowledge of Part 4 of the National Building Code of Canada and has provided consulting services throughout various phases of construction, from design development to on-site support and project coordination.
With experience spanning both forensic investigations and structural design, Helena brings a practical and technically focused approach to complex structural challenges, helping clients identify causes of failure and develop effective repair and rebuilding solutions.
Joe is a pro board-certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. He has 30 years experience with Brandon Fire and Emergency Services as a Firefighter/PCP, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator and Fire Prevention Officer. Joe has conducted over 100 fire investigations and 2000 fire life safety inspections. In his role as a Fire prevention Officer, he was the direct liaison with Brandon Police Services Major Crimes Unit dealing with arson related crimes.
Marcin is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator with nearly two decades of experience in engineering and forensic fire investigation. He graduated with honours from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at NAIT and brings over 10 years of design engineering experience, including advanced proficiency in multiple 3D design platforms and specialized work in hydraulic surface tools for the oilfield industry.
His work focuses on vehicle and structural fire investigations, providing technical and analytical consulting services to the insurance industry. He is currently awaiting Professional Technologist certification and holds two patents.
Michael is a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as well as a Registered Building Code Designer (BCIN) and has more than a decade of engineering experience working directly under the supervision of a Professional Civil Engineer across residential, commercial, institutional and agricultural projects. With advanced skills in AutoCAD, strong working knowledge of Revit, and a deep understanding of the Ontario Building Code, he specializes in producing precise architectural, structural and civil site drawings. Mike has led a wide range of projects and utilizing his skills with structural calculations, technical accuracy, client-focused solutions, strong problem-solving and efficient building permit packages as well as in depth knowledge for obtaining minor variance applications within several different municipalities.
Isabella is an investigator specializing in Materials Engineering. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Toronto, with a certificate in Forensic Engineering.
Zaid is a licensed Professional Engineer based in Ontario. He is a graduate of Concordia University with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Infrastructure. He specializes in forensic structural investigations in the analysis, design, and restoration of structural systems across residential, commercial, and industrial structures. His work spans the design and analysis of wood, steel, and concrete structures, design of fire separations, code compliance reviews, and detailed structural assessments of environmental and structural failures. Zaid possesses sound and extensive knowledge in the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) and Ontario Building Code (OBC).
Chad is a ProBoard-certified NFPA 1033 Fire Investigator with over 15 years of fire service experience. He is a former Chief Fire Officer for the cities of Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Flin Flon. Chad has conducted more than 200 fire investigations, including fatal fires, large-loss structures, incendiary events, as well as vehicle and heavy equipment fires.
Troy is a highly skilled technician with over a decade of experience in the skilled trades, specializing in restaurant HVAC and refrigeration systems. He holds Red Seal certifications in Commercial & Industrial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, as well as in Gas Fitting, and carries a Class B Gas Fitter’s License issued by the Province of Manitoba. Troy is also licensed by the Winnipeg Fire Department as a Gas Service Person and is a certified member of the Manitoba Ozone Protection Industry Association (MOPIA), holding a valid license. In addition to his role at OCI, he proudly serves his community as a volunteer firefighter in his home city of Selkirk, Manitoba.
Brett is a senior firefighter with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, with over 20 years of experience in fire suppression and emergency response. He currently serves as an acting fire investigator and holds a Transport Canada Small RPAS and VLOS Advanced Operations Pilot Certificate. Prior to joining the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, Brett served as an on-call firefighter and EMR with West St. Paul and spent eight years with Manitoba Justice as a correctional officer.
