  • Responsible for fire cause and origin investigations and associated written reports of incendiary, accidental, natural or undetermined fires in support of the Manitoba fire service and policing authorities. Activities include, but are not limited to, site and scene evaluation, photographing the scene, documenting witness statements, and evidence or exhibit collection. Liaise and assist police agencies, insurance adjusters or other government agencies in determining origin and cause 
  • Provincial emergency response to wildland fires and search and rescue incidents. Program development maintenance, and instruction in the Fire Investigation Program – Manitoba Emergency Services College, Brandon Manitoba. Provide continual education and training to the fire and policing services on fire investigations, scene and evidence security. Provide real-time consultative services and advice to OFC staff, other fire investigators, fire service personnel across the province when requested. Provide consultative services to local governments, communities, the insurance industry, emergency services departments, provincial agencies, institutions, school boards, and industry with recommendations relative to fire prevention, fire safety and emergency planning and response and fire investigation and relevant fire and emergency response legislation, regulations and standards
