Chad is a ProBoard-certified NFPA 1033 Fire Investigator with over 15 years of fire service experience. He is a former Chief Fire Officer for the cities of Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Flin Flon. Chad has conducted more than 150 fire investigations, including fatal fires, large-loss structures, incendiary events, as well as vehicle and heavy equipment fires.
Clive Hubbard is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. He has over 35 years of experience with the Toronto Police Service, Halton Regional Police Service, and most recently, with the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal, conducting comprehensive investigations of the origin, cause and circumstances of fire and explosion scenes. This also includes identifying issues relating to fire safety and involves the identification, collection, preservation, and presentation of evidence to be used in court. He has completed over 400 investigations and, in many cases, has provided expert witness testimony. Additionally, as an Adjunct Instructor, Clive instructed students enrolled in the National Fire Protection Association Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator (NFPA 1033) at the Ontario Fire College (OFC) and Regional Training Centre’s (RTC) throughout Ontario.
Russ is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, as well as a former Fire Captain, Fire Prevention officer, and member of the Arson Strike Force. He has over 20 years of experience and has performed over 1,000 fire and explosion investigations, including large structural losses, vehicle fires, and wildland fires. Russ also investigates and reports on technical failures, specializing in fire sprinkler systems.
John is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Fuels Specialist. He has over 17 years of experience, including 3 years with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority where he was Fuels Safety Inspector and Fuels Technical Trainer. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (313A Journeyperson) and Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A Journeyperson). John has also taught refrigeration and gas fitting at Fanshawe and Conestoga Colleges.
Chris is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Vehicle Fire Investigator. Over the course of his professional career he has attended over 350 fires, conducting numerous experiments to determine the validity of hypotheses relevant to each investigation. Chris also has a background in forensic anthropology and human osteology, and has assisted in the identification and analyses of excavated remains, and led teams in the recovery of partial human remains in total burn situations.
Specializing in structural fires and explosions, Mike’s professional experience includes 16 years as a fire investigator with the Ontario Fire Marshal, 9 years as an Attorney General investigator, and 14 years as a police officer, attaining the rank of Detective. During his career, he has investigated 1,575 fire and explosion occurrences, including 136 fatal fires and 61 gaseous explosions. Mike’s areas of expertise include advanced fire investigation and origin and cause determination. He is trained in post-blast explosion scene investigations as well as gas and electrical appliance fires. Mike has been declared an expert witness at all levels of the criminal and civil justice system.
Mark has worked for the provincial downstream hydrocarbon regulator in Ontario for approximately 14 years. He has led over 500 fire and 100 explosion investigations involving natural gas, propane, fuel oil, diesel, gasoline, hydrogen, digester and landfill gas. Mark has extensive experience in hydrocarbon appliance operation and failure mechanisms, and expert knowledge of all Canadian codes and regulations with respect to hydrocarbon fuels. Mark worked for the Alberta Energy Regulator for 2 years where he specialized in pipeline inspection and failure investigations with respect to the upstream oil and gas industry. Mark has CFEI, G1, LP, PM2 certifications and over 25 years of experience in the hydrocarbon fuels industry.
Mike is Fuels Specialist and Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. He has over 45 years of experience in the fuels industry, including 18 years investigating various fuel applications, incendiary fires suspected to have a fuel involvement, as well as suspicious fires, fire fatalities and gaseous explosions. These investigations include the determination of the area of the fire origin, fuels involved and source of ignition. Mike also has experience investigating environmental issues caused by fuels, including major petroleum leaks and pipeline damages. Mike has appeared in court, preparing prosecution packages and presenting findings.
Andrea is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. She has over 10 years of experience with the Ontario Fire Marshall, prior to which she served as an officer with the Halton Regional Police Service for 22 years after working in several investigative units to include being a lead Homicide Detective for 3 years. She has attended over 200 autopsies with Halton Regional Police and Ontario Fire Marshall office. To date, Andrea has been involved in over 700 fire and explosive investigations. She has been qualified as an expert in fire and explosive investigations in Ontario Court and Superior Court of Justice for the Province of Ontario. Andrea is also an associate instructor for the Ontario Fire College and has taught the NFPA 1033 fire course to firefighters and police.
Cody is an NFPA and Safety Codes Certified Fire Investigator. He has over 24 years of experience as a Fire Service Leader, Safety Codes Officer and Fire Investigator. Cody started as a firefighter in the town of High River in 1997 before attaining the rank of captain in 2005, and inspector in 2018. In 2019, Cody was promoted to Fire Chief of High River. He has investigated over 170 fires including structure and vehicle fires.
