Specializing in fire and explosions investigations and electrical engineering, Chris is qualified as an expert witness in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and has investigated over 1000 forensic incidents to date. In addition to over 10 years of fire and explosions experience, Chris has over 20 years’ experience working as an electrical engineer in the field of high and low voltage motors, generators, transformers and electrical equipment failure mode investigations and analysis, including electrical components design, repair and testing methods.
Paul is a licensed Professional Engineer specializing in Mechanical and Materials Engineering with expertise in forensic failure analysis. His skills encompass materials testing, metallurgical sample preparation and microstructure characterization.
With hands-on experience in automotive product design and testing, Paul’s knowledge extends to failures in consumer and industrial products, plumbing systems, automotive components, and issues stemming from corrosion, fatigue, improper installation, and poor material selection.
He is proficient in analysing failures related to metals, polymers, glass, ceramics and composites using analytical tools like XRD, XRF, SEM, EDX, and optical microscopy. Paul has collaborated with insurance companies, law firms and industrial risk management teams. His contribution to the field of materials science and engineering is validated by 21 technical publications and presentations.
Eduardo is a Professional Materials and Metallurgical Engineer with over 20 years of experience in forensic engineering investigations and failure analysis. He has led over 1,500 forensic and failure investigations and specializes in a variety of equipment, components and industrial products, including Plumbing and Mechanical Systems, HVAC Systems, Fire Sprinkler Systems, Polymer Pipe Failures, Product Liability, Fuel Oil Installations, Personal Injury and Static Equipment in Oil and Gas.
Eduardo has held leadership positions in technical groups for the materials engineering community as well as with the Canadian Standards Association where he is currently a member in one of the technical committees. He is currently a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), ASM International, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP).
Eduardo has been a presenting author at several technical conferences and engagements for the insurance community.
Michelle specializes in vehicle fire investigation, failure analysis, product liability, residential and commercial appliances, equipment malfunctions in sprinkler systems, and heating and refrigeration equipment. She also has experience investigating vehicle fires including transport trucks, forestry and farm equipment. Prior to entering the field of forensic engineering, Michelle performed mechanical engineering tests and evaluations for Ford Canada and was an equipment engineer for Samsung Austin Semiconductor.
Martin is a licensed professional engineer specializing in electrical engineering and fire investigation. With more than 15 years of experience, he has performed over 600 fire investigations as well as electrical failure analyses, site reviews and code consultations. Martin is qualified as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Raina is a Fire and Explosion Investigator with a background in Electrical Engineering specializing in failure analysis, and origin and cause investigation of fires. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Management from McMaster University. Raina has attended and participated in over 200 fire scene investigations and electrical failure examinations.
Chase is a Materials Engineer and Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator with five years of experience. He has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in engineering with a specialty in Materials Engineering from the University of Toronto. Chase has been involved in more than 400 fire investigations and 80 water loss and failure analysis investigations and has prepared more than 200 formal engineering reports.
Said is a licensed professional engineer and certified fire and explosion investigator with over 15 years of experience. He specializes in electrical and electronic failures, product liability and fire investigation, with particular expertise in codes and standards compliance. Said has overseen hundreds of investigations identifying the failure of equipment, installations and processes which contributed to electrical incidents, and has completed over 300 electrical forensics and fire investigations, and performed over 60 investigations to determine the root causes of electrical incidents which resulted in critical injuries, fatalities and/or large losses.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Vladimir’s career has encompassed a number of industries and roles: Insurance appraiser of commercial and industrial machinery, equipment and buildings; quality, production and design engineer and forensic engineer. Vladimir has completed over 1,500 forensic cases, investigating fires and explosions, product failures and various other types of losses. Vladimir graduated with an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Toronto. He is an Internationally Certified Fire and Explosions Investigator and serves as a board member and training chair of the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators (CAFI), having served in the past as the national president. Vladimir also assists the Standard Council of Canada (SCC) as a designated expert in their Certifying Body (CB) and Laboratory Accreditation programs. Vladimir is also the author of Chapter 10, “Fire Investigation,” in The Lawyer’s Guide to the Forensic Sciences (Irwin Law, 2016), edited by Caitlin Pakosh. He is also the winner of the 2017 Walter Owen Book Prize recognizing excellent legal writing and outstanding contributions to Canadian law.
Art is the Vice President of OCIG Eastern Canada, and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator with over 20 years of experience within the forensic engineering industry. Art also is a member of the Board of Directors for OCIG/Crawford.
